Shandy. Brandy. Dammit Randy.
& Bonus Advice.
1. Shandy
This is my favorite drink of the summer! I am someone who spent years defending the drink-ability of Bud Lite Lime— so I do love a fruit-and-beer combo! And don’t you dare groan at me before you go try one on a hot summer afternoon.
But this is actually delicious, no explanation needed.
2. Brandy
As I was enjoying my afternoon Grapefruit Shandy, I naturally started singing a song about it to the tune of the 1972 hit song Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl).
As a heavy water person (my Sun, Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn are all in water signs), I can really understand falling in love with the ocean.
Next thing I knew I was reading all about the New Jersey band (members went to Rutgers together) who wrote the song and how it is definitely positively absolutely not related to the local legend of an actual woman who was said to have fallen in love with a captain and went every day to this one spot and looked for him.
The name of that woman was Mary Ellis— who has her own Wikipedia page—
Mary Ellis (1750–1828)[6] was a spinster in New Brunswick, New Jersey.[7]
A SPINSTER! I haven’t heard that word in a long time!
But fancy myself as somewhat of a spinster too…middle aged divorcée without kids or pets of my own counts, right?
According to oral tradition, she was seduced by a sea captain who vowed to return to marry her. He never returned and she would come to the spot where her grave now stands, each day, to look for his ship in the Raritan River in New Brunswick.[8]
Sigh….how romantic….
However, historians have doubted the truth to this story, noting her past as a person who would not waste that kind of time.
Hahahaha!!!!
Great story.
Great song.
Enjoy!
3. Dammit Randy
Don’t we all love a good country break up song?
I know I do.
I’m not a huge fan of modern country, but this one popped up on my Spotify and the title alone made me laugh! The song is rock solid. It’s got the right “kiss-my-grits” kind of sentiment— honest but not sad, she’s taking the power back from a shitty situation.
We’ve all been there…but Dammit, Randy!

This artist guy (David Choe) gives some ACTUALLY USEABLE feedback to his commenters on Youtube. I loved this guy’s honesty and I totally agree with him.
Here’s David Choe —

To the page…that white space…
This is a portal to another universe, another dimension…
And you can express FEARLESSLY here…
And yet you don’t.
You’re holding back.
You hold back? It makes your art suck.
And the reason your art sucks is because you’re holding back.
I’m giving you permission to let go today.
Express yourself FEARLESSLY.

I’m considering turning my paid subscriptions on again, which would get you access to these kinds of inspiration emails. I’m still thinking about what would be a good offering. If you have ideas, send me a message about it!
In the mean time….have a great weekend, everyone!

Leinenkugel literally means linenball
Have a good weekend, Trixie! Two things:
1. Saw a random lady yesterday that looked so much like you I almost said something, haha. Of course it wasn't, but her energy was similar to your energy and that made me smile :)
2. I literally just learned about that Shandy yesterday! I'm not a beer fan but it sounds delicious so I'm going to have to try it next time I see it. I'll let you know what I think!
