Howdy Kumquats!
Maybe some of you are aware of this upcoming solar eclipse this weekend on Sat October 14th. Maybe some of you didn’t know because you are distracted and are getting sucked back into doom and gloom courtesy of the program of control and fear. Please resist. Lift up your energy with all your might! Seriously. You take back your power from every situation by changing your focus.
But that’s not what I came here to say.
I came here because, as is my habit, I like to lean into the astrological weather. I always plan projects or put together a program of some sort for myself. It’s best to be prepared for these things and go in search of the lessons before they come and bonk you on the head.
So, I came to share some information that I’m using for this upcoming eclipse…and remember, eclipses are always part of a duo— the light and dark, the sun and moon. It’s always an eclipse sandwich and this is the first slice of bread as we build this sandwich. So, there are themes and patterns being set up in your life that will play out over the next few weeks.
Pay attention. This is a test.
This is the real test of your Emergency Broadcast System.
Are you going to retreat to the same fear-based cave you always run to….
OR…are you going to look down at how strong and beautiful you are, grab your sword of discernment and slay the bullshit once and for all?
Here are the basics, as plainly as I can explain them…
Eclipse in Libra
Everything in this world is part of a spectrum that includes light and dark, which also exist on a continuum, teetering between exhalted and debilitated.
Eclipses are catalysts— they can be like a changing of the guard or a match in a powder keg. That depends on you and if you’ve been paying attention to your life. All energy can be channeled into a blessing, put to positive use and worked with.
This solar eclipse is happening in the sign of Libra, which is about justice/injustice, balance/imbalance, beauty/lack of beauty. Venus rules Libra and is concerned with harmony, pleasure, beauty and enjoyment of life. Libra will put these things on the scales of your life and show where there is an imbalance.
Libra rules the kidneys, lower back, bladder and endochrine system (hormones, baby!). They are bean-shaped organs in low back that…
remove waste products from the body
remove drugs and toxins from the body
balance the body's fluids
release hormones that regulate blood pressure
produce an active form of vitamin D that promotes strong, healthy bones
control the production of red blood cells
maintain salt and mineral balance

The area of your life where Libra will work its magic depends on which house you have Libra in in your chart. You can work with cleansing and supporting this part of the body no matter where that placement is.
Chiron
In addition to this Libra energy, there is another tricky influence— Mercury opposing the asteroid Chiron in the sign of Aries.
In Greek mythology, Chiron was a centaur (half man/ half horse) known as the wounded healer, because he took a poison arrow that created a wound he never healed from and he traded his immortality to become a constellation.
But more than being a healer, Chiron was a noble teacher and mentor. He was orphaned as baby and raised by Apollo and Artemis. Chiron was a centaur of refinement and merit when other centaurs were like whiskey swilling marauding red necks.
Chiron raised and educated notable heroes such as Achilles, Aristaeus, Actaeon, Asclepius, Jason and Medus.
The placement of this asteroid in our chart points to the life wound we are all here to heal as well as pointing to how we use our wound to become a teacher.
Chiron is about how we have transformed our personal pain into wisdom and encourages us to use it in service to others.
This eclipse will likely bring a confrontation in communication or way of doing business (Mercury) relating to our life’s wound. This is a test of our ability to use the medicine of Chiron.
Look for what house in your chart contains Aries, Chiron or Mercury for where this may show up for you.
The Nodes
There is one more important situation happening in the sky this weekend, which is the wrapping up a 9 year south node cycle. And another will begin with this ending.
Eclipses are linked to the north and south node.
The north and south node work together in tandem— through expansion / contraction, gain / release, future / past.
The nodes are not really a “place” in the sky, but are mathematical points where the moon crosses the ecliptic path— the north indicating where the moon begins ascension on the ecliptic path and the south node indicates the cross over to descending.
The nodes are known as “malefics” like Saturn and Mars, where they work through contrast to the light and can give “hard” lessons.
This eclipse involves the south node, which is our karma. It can be seen as a habitual go-to negative pattern, that we need to release.
In Vedic astrology, the nodes are linked to a myth around powerful demon named Swarbhanu, who disguised himself and tried to jump the line and drink Amrita (aka the elixir of immortality) before all the other gods. Vishnu dealt with this by cutting off the head and tail of the demon which turned them into endlessly hungry, eternal seekers, never obtaining immortality.
One of the central reasons Rahu and Ketu are considered bad in Vedic astrology is their association with karma. According to Vedic belief, these celestial nodes are karmic indicators, reflecting the soul’s past actions and unresolved karmic debts. Rahu represents unfulfilled desires and obsessions, while Ketu signifies detachment and spiritual evolution.
Rahu is often associated with materialism, ambition, and worldly desires. When Rahu influences a person’s chart prominently, it can lead to a relentless pursuit of material success, often at the expense of ethical or moral values. This can result in challenging life experiences and a sense of unfulfillment.
On the other hand, Ketu represents renunciation and spiritual growth. Its influence can lead individuals towards introspection, meditation, and a desire to break free from material attachments. While this may ultimately lead to spiritual evolution, the journey can be tumultuous, marked by sudden losses and challenges.

In a nutshell…here are some things to think about….
Libra: Balance, Work with Kidneys
Chiron: Transmute Pain to Wisdom
South Node: Recognize, Accept, Release Karmic Pattern
Part 2 Happens on the Wilder Side
The second half of this post will go into detail about my personal plan / program for leaning into the astrological weather this weekend. I also did a tarot card reading for the members. This one I asked A.A. Michael to weigh in. He gets to the point and doesn’t suffer fools. He says what needs to be said clearly. I always appreciate that energy and you will too.
See ya over there.
XO, Trixie
