My Birthday Gift

I'm giving you this episode as a gift for my 50th birthday.

Howdy, Kumquats!

I hope you’re all bouncing back after the political sports contest.

I know I’m ready to move on.

Partly because we’ve been lied to about everything.

But also in part because I know that the Burneston side of my family (paternal side) has been here since the French and Indian War…..which was before America was even America. So, I figure that political regimes may come and go, but it’s actually the PEOPLE living on the LAND who are making the CULTURE that will be what lasts when even they have gone. I’m talking about the songs sung and dances danced and stories that are told…that are passed down in the places that they are made.

The organic stuff.

Not importing it.

Not outsourcing it.

Not copy cut pasting.

Not found on social media.

So, instead of giving my power away by worrying about far-off-fears…

I’m busy making the world that I ACTUALLY want to live in.

With that in mind…

A gift to you on my birthday

I’m putting this episode out a day before my 50th birthday.

Couple things about that— I do have a goal of making it to at least 100 with everything working great— including my joints, bowels, eyes, mind, teeth, mobility, etc….and yes, I have the goal of making sure my my pussy works until I’m 100 years old. AT LEAST. She could outlive me.

So, turning 50 means I’m at least half way there.

I’m not dead yet.

Many times I wanted to die, kill myself, run away, burn it all down, never come back.

But I’m not dead yet, so I keep going with gusto…everyday flailing and failing and occasionally flying.

Thus…we adventure onward in our wobbly way.

Thanks for being here.

It would mean a lot if you shared my work with others you think would get it.

I’m only on YouTube and Substack. I’ve opted out of the socials and leapt into the void of the REAL WORLD.

It’s just us here.

I’m releasing these here first and YouTube later. But YouTube is easy to share with your friends. Which would be great.

My Birthday Traditions

Part of learning how to love and re-parent myself meant re-claiming BIRTHDAYS— here are some of my traditions. I hope they inspire you to have your own best party.

Here we go…

Birthdays are important to celebrate.

You have to make it special for yourself and if other people are part of that, great.

I like to call my birthday BIRTHWEEK so I can take some time to reflect, savor and enjoy. That way you can have many dinners and spread it out and enjoy it.

When I turn a new decade, I like to celebrate BIRHTMONTH— so I take even longer to make sure I see many distant friends, relatives and acquaintances and reflect on another decade of living this crazy life.

I try to do as many backbends as I am old, inspired by BKS Iyengar and the great lineage of yoga.

Definitely be naked in nature.

If possible, sit on your birthday cake and then eat it. Or feed it to others.

Eat cake for breakfast for birthweek.

Some birthdays are great alone, but some you need other people.

Buy your own best present.

Have your own party.

Take an offical birthday portrait.

Ok…that’s it.

I’ll be up to my ass and elbows cleaning the next 2 days for my party…so I hope you enjoy this episode.

Lots of Love,

Trixie
