Jump Into the Fire + Be Rewarded
Love is the greatest risk of all. It's also the only thing that really matters.
One of the reasons I started this here Love School is because after all the work I’ve done on myself after my divorce, being cancelled and moving cross country to start a new life— I find that I can’t be 100% me around people that are living at 40-50% of their vitality. I found that as hard as I tried, I can’t persist without the other humans around me participating in the co-creation of myself and of the entire world. People reflect us back to ourselves, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.
Living inside of the small box that other people put themselves in is stifling, it restricts, binds and keeps us from opening up our full wingspan and actually FLYING. This world that we have created is suffocating all of us. Maybe I can just feel it more because as an artist, outlier, weirdo, and pioneer, I require freedom from restriction to even exist.
This world right now is anti-life, anti-love, anti-humanity, and anti-Earth because it is entirely constructed around fear. All of life is a risk and that is the price of admission. Living is a risk. There is no protection from that risk. There is no bubble you can build around yourself to avoid hurt, loss and heart ache.
I learned from my performing career the value in chasing my fear. Every time I’m scared of something, I know it’s showing EXACTLY where I need to walk towards. Walking into my fear doesn’t mean I don’t feel fear. It means I feel it and do it anyway. I believe it’s called courage.
Love is the greatest risk of all.
Partnership, in all of its forms, is what we are here for. We are not here to do this alone. We CAN’T make an entire world without the participation of others. Sadly, people aren’t participating very much still.
It’s a form of spiritual immaturity to try to destroy that which challenges us. These past few years, I’ve felt I have to hide and stay small for fear of being destroyed again by those that aren’t ready for the radiant, technicolor complexity of my individuality. My very existence is challenging to people because I live in a state of freedom and authenticity that is really dying out. That’s not going to work for me and I hope it doesn’t work for you either. We can and must do better.
Let me be a reminder of the importance of risk taking. Take the risk of being you and choose to LOVE. Choose life. Choose creativity, joy, delight and be rewarded with the spectacle of wild diversity that makes life so interesting. Let me be a living reminder that you can heal, you can lean into your strength rather than your weakness/trauma and that the more you open your wings, others will be able to do the same around you.
Every spiritual tradition and even psychedelics all same the same thing— despite the appearance of evil in the world, this whole Earth engine runs on LOVE. Love is fueled by PASSION. Tend that fire in your heart, make it a fire that will keep you warm for a lifetime.
Love what you love because you love it.
No excuses. No explanations. No attachments either.
Just LOVE like your life depended on it. Because it does.
Today I want to share with you what I consider to be the greatest love song of all time!
The first version is a cover by LCD Soundsystm HERE and the second is the original by the inimitable Harry Nilsson HERE.
I think of this as a great love song because it feels true to my experience of what real big LOVE requires— that we jump into the fire. It also touches on the endless cycle of creation, destruction and rebirth of ourselves in and out of relationship. Love requires honesty and it’s not for wimps. Love is the reward of strength and courage.
I feel like he’s saying that you can go to these great heights and dismal depths to try to be free, but only choosing LOVE will get you there.
Lyrics “Jump Into the Fire” by Harry Nilsson
You can climb a mountain, you can swim the sea
You can jump into the fire but you'll never be free
You can shake me up or I can break you down
Oh, oh
We can make each other happy
Oh, we can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
Oh, we can make each other happy
You can climb a mountain, you can swim the sea
You can jump into the fire but you'll never be free, no no
You can shake me up or I can break you down
Oh, oh
We can make each other happy
Oh, we can make each other happy
Oh, we can make each other happy
We can make each other happy, oh
You can climb a mountain, you can swim the sea
You can jump into the fire but you'll never be free, no no
You can shake me up, I can break you down
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
LOVE like your life depends on it. I know mine does.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Lovers.
XO, Trixie
